Public Art People’s Choice Award Winners Announced
Edina, Minn., Oct. 16, 2014 – In its 10th year, public art exhibits throughout Edina were again part of the
People’s Choice Awards organized by Public Art Edina, a working group of the Arts & Culture Commission.
Residents and community members voted online and at various in-person voting locations to select three
People’s Choice Award winners.
The winners of this year’s People’s Choice Awards include “Leaping Hare” by Nicholas Legeros in first place,
“Dancing Sand Hill Cranes” by Jim Dehne in second place and “Argonaut” by James Bearden in third place.
Legeros, with the winning sculpture, is an Edina resident, while the second and third place entries came from
Newton, Wisconsin, and Des Moines, Iowa, respectively.
“While ‘Leaping Hare’ was resoundingly selected as the people’s favorite, the vast majority of sculptures were
separated by only 11 votes,” noted Public Art Edina Chair Barbara LaValluer. “That speaks to the quality and
diversity of our exhibit, as well as the enjoyment of our public art exhibit.”
All eligible entries included:
“Density Housing for the Modern Urban Fairy” by Allison Ruby, located on the Edina Promenade
“Mantle” by Steve Elliott, located on the Edina Promenade
“Dynamic Duo” by James Bearden, located on the Edina Promenade
