Two Arrested, Linked to Jan. 12 Attempted Carjacking
Edina, Minn., Jan. 21, 2022 – Two individuals linked to numerous crimes, including an attempted carjacking earlier this month in Edina, were arrested this week.
Kashawn Jason Wertman, 18, and Nautica Alaja Argue, 19, were arrested after fleeing police in a stolen motor vehicle. In a cooperative effort between law enforcement agencies across
the Twin Cities metro area, the pair were taken into custody in St. Paul by Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office deputies Tuesday, Jan. 18. Both are currently being held at the Hennepin County
Adult Detention Center.
Wertman and Argue are believed to have been involved in a string of carjackings, robberies and thefts between Jan. 7 and 17. Among those was the attempted carjacking and attempted robbery
in the 7700 block of Computer Avenue on the afternoon of Wednesday, Jan. 12.
In addition to Edina, the offenses impacted communities in Brooklyn Center, Burnsville, Columbia Heights, Eagan, Lakeville, Little Canada, Minneapolis, Plymouth, Richfield, Roseville,
St. Louis Park, St. Paul, White Bear Lake and Woodbury. Wertman has been charged with 17 crimes, while Argue has been charged with 14 offenses.
Investigation into these offenses is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated in Hennepin and nearby counties.
