FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Knaeble Promoted to Paramedic/Firefighter
Edina, Minn., Jan. 9, 2013 – Pete Knaeble recently joined the full-time ranks of Edina Fire Department as a
Paramedic/Firefighter after serving as a Paid-on-Call Firefighter for more than three years.
Knaeble received his bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University and a master’s degree in special education
from the University of St. Thomas. He worked as a special education teacher for seven years before enrolling in
Hennepin County Medical Center’s 12-month paramedic school. After completing this training, Knaeble worked
as a paramedic for the Hennepin County Medical Center for six months in addition to serving the Edina Fire
Department as a Paid-on-Call firefighter.
“When I applied to be Paid-on-Call, I thought, ‘what a cool way to serve my community,’” Knaeble said. “My dad
and uncle both were firefighters. I have so much pride in what they did and always looked up to them.
Firefighting is something I’ve always wanted to be a part of.”
“Pete has the skills to serve Edina and will be an excellent addition to our full-time staff,” said Edina Fire Chief
Marty Scheerer.
“I’m excited to be able to further serve my community,” Knaeble said. “Whether I’m on a medical call or a fire,
these people are experiencing what might be the worst moment in their lives, and for them to trust a stranger
like me to help them is a complete honor.”
Knaeble will work full-time assisting with fire inspections for a few months before transitioning to one of the
Edina Fire Department’s three 24-hour shifts.
