City receives six communications awards from MAGC
Edina, Minn., May 21, 2013 – The Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC) on
May 20 presented the City of Edina with six awards for work completed in 2012.
The City was presented an Award of Merit and five first-place Awards of Excellence in the 31st-annual
Northern Lights Awards competition. Communications Assistant Emilie Kastner’s About Town story, “Edina
Community Embraces New Hindu Temple;” Edina 16 programs “Agenda: Edina” and “Beyond the Badge” and
the City’s redesigned website, www.EdinaMN.gov, received Awards of Excellence. The Centennial Lakes Park
summer entertainment brochure, designed by Communications Coordinator Kaylin Martin, received an
Award of Merit and an Award of Excellence in two Visual Design categories.
“The Communications & Technology Services Department is very honored to receive these awards from our
peers,” said Director Jennifer Bennerotte. “This year’s awards really show off the many facets of our work
and staff’s commitment to quality.”
Nearly 150 entries in 13 categories were received and judged by a prestigious panel of experts. Of those
entries, 70 were deemed award-worthy. Awards were presented at a reception at the Minneapolis Central
Library.
