Swing on Over to Celebrate Construction of Braemar Golf Dome
Edina, Minn., July 22, 2013 – The City of Edina’s Parks & Recreation Department will hold a brief ground-
breaking ceremony for the new Braemar Golf Dome later this month.
Fire destroyed the facility in February 2012. After months of negotiation, insurance settlements and
construction plans have been approved and the new-and-improved dome will be standing in no time. The new
Braemar Golf Dome is scheduled to open Nov. 1.
“We are really looking forward to having the dome back in operation. The new dome facilities will be fresh
and comfortable for our many customers,” said Todd Anderson, General Manager at Braemar Golf Course.
The dome will be the largest, longest-hitting indoor golf in the Twin Cities; contain a fire suppression system
to prevent another blaze; and will feature a separate lobby, thicker turf to provide better play and more
cushion upon falls, brand-new and improved second-story deck and upgraded insulation to keep the driving
deck warm.
To mark the start of construction, there will be a groundbreaking celebration at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, on
the site of the dome, 7420 Braemar Blvd. During the celebration, guests will be able to view the construction
site and plans as well as hear from City leaders while enjoying light refreshments.
The celebration continues immediately following the groundbreaking at Braemar Golf Course. From 10 a.m.
to 1 p.m., Braemar Golf Course will offer some great deals. Enjoy buckets of balls at the driving range for half-
price along with half-price hot dog combos at the Grill when you mention “DOME.”
The event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP to 952-826-0359 or mail@EdinaMN.gov before Friday,
July 26.
