Roma Calatayud-Stocks at The Author’s Studio in October
Edina, Minn., Sept. 4, 2013 – Author/musician Roma Calatayud–Stocks will be the guest at “The Author’s
Studio” 10 a.m. Oct. 19, in the Margaret Foss Gallery at the Edina Art Center, 4701 W. 64th St.
The Edina Art Center has invited Calatayud-Stocks to help celebrate Hispanic Heritage month. Her novel,
“Song in My Heart,” is a cross-cultural story of a Mexican woman who lives in Minnesota in the early 1900s
and dreams of becoming an orchestral conductor. Based on true historical facts, the story explores the mixing
of Mexican and American cultures. Set in the Twin Cities, New York, Mexico and Europe, “A Song in My
Heart” is an in-depth exploration of character, a celebration of art and culture, and a musical journey. It is the
recipient of several book awards, including:
Midwest Book Awards – First Place in the Arts category
Mom’s Choice Award in Multimedia Experiences Adult Book
International Latino Book Awards – Best Novel Historical Fiction and First Book
In addition, Calatayud-Stocks composed and recorded music that demonstrates the journey of the heroine on
her quest. The musical score CD/soundtrack was composed by Calatayud-Stocks and arranged/performed by
Chan Poling and other musicians of note. The CD includes 14 original songs/instrumental compositions with
classical, jazz and Latin influences.
