FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Edina Park & Recreation to host Winter Neighborhood
Night Out
Edina, Minn., Dec. 28, 2011 – Get to know your neighbors better with an evening of socializing,
refreshments and winter activities! On Friday, Jan. 20, the City’s Park & Recreation Department will
host the fifth-annual Winter Neighborhood Night Out at Normandale, Pamela and Weber parks
from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
“Over the years, this free family event encouraging neighbors to connect in the winter has grown.
Introducing families to ways to stay active in the winter -- snowshoeing, ice skating or kick sleds --
has been an additional benefit,” said Kristin Aarsvold, Recreation Supervisor. “The Edina
Community Foundation has been a sponsor since the beginning, and we are pleased that our
neighborhood partners like Morningside Neighborhood Association and the Edina Lions have
supported the event over the years.”
Following tradition, Edina’s popular Night Out will provide free refreshments and activities. Caribou
Coffee will offer free decaffeinated coffee and cider in warming houses for guests. Cub Foods will
supply mini-cookies at all three park sites. The Edina Lions Club will provide fixings for s’mores and
hot chocolate at Pamela Park.
At all three parks, snowshoes provided by Hoigaards and kick sleds provided by the Edina
Community Foundation will be available for use. Families can also enjoy caricature drawings at
Pamela Park.
For more information on the event or to make a donation, call Aarsvold at 952-826-0433 or visit
www.EdinaParks.com. In case of inclement weather, an alternate date for the event is set for Jan. 27.
