Edina Fire Department Lieutenant Completes National Training
Edina, Minn., Jan. 27, 2011 – Fire Lieutenant Jeff Siems recently completed the National Fire
Academy’s “Executive Fire Officer Program.”
The program, offered by the U.S. Fire Administration, is designed to provide those in leadership
roles with an understanding of the value of research and lifelong learning and gives knowledge,
skills and abilities necessary to lead. Students are taught the importance of being proactive.
The Executive Fire Officer Program spans four years with four core courses, each two weeks in
length, held in Emmitsburg, Md. In addition, each student must complete an applied research
project that relates to his or her organization each of the four years.
“I am very grateful for the support of my family, my coworkers and the Edina Fire
Department,” Siems said. “I hope that I can share some of the knowledge and skills I have
learned to make our community a better place to live and work.”
“We are very lucky to have Jeff complete the Executive Fire Officer training,” said Edina Fire
Chief Marty Scheerer. “He is very committed to the firefighting profession.”
Siems joins Scheerer and Assistant Fire Chief Darrell Todd to become the department’s third
firefighter to complete the training.
