Willems Joins Edina Fire Department
Edina, Minn., Jan. 27, 2011 – Matt Willems recently joined the Edina Fire Department as a
firefighter/paramedic.
Willems previously worked for the St. Cloud Fire Department, Virginia, Minn. Fire Deparment
and Ridgeview Ambulance service. He completed his paramedic training at Inver Hills
Community College in 2008.
“The Edina Fire Department is the place where I ultimately wanted to end up,” Willems said.
“To finally get on is a really great feeling and I am looking forward to being a part of this team
and the community.”
Willems began with the Department Jan. 3. Willems will work on the Fire Department’s B-shift
after a few weeks of training.
“After several rounds of tests and interview, we think Matt has the customer services skills,
paramedic skills and firefighting skills to serve the community and be a great fit within our
organization,” said Edina Fire Chief Marty Scheerer.
