Explorer Post 925 Takes Home Three Trophies in Statewide
Competition
Edina, Minn., May 2, 2012 – Edina/Eden Prairie Law Enforcement Explorer Post 925 took home three
trophies from the 37th-annual Minnesota Law Enforcement Exploring Conference last month in Rochester,
Minn.
Post 925 placed first in “Burglary Response” and second in the “Traffic Accident” competitions. Captain of
Post 925 Dave Norr also placed first in the “Rapid Fire Shoot” competition for individual Explorers.
More than 900 Explorers from Minnesota and surrounding states competed at the annual statewide
conference, working through scenarios that reflected real life law enforcement situations such as burglary
response, interview and interrogation, white collar crime and first aid.
Explorer Post 925 is made up of 34 Edina and Eden Prairie students interested in law enforcement. Members
range in age from 14 to 21. The Explorers learn firsthand about the law enforcement profession through
lectures, practical scenarios, ride-alongs and volunteering with the police department. Post 925 is part of
a national program that includes more than 33,000 Explorers and 8,425 adult advisors.
“It’s been a lot of fun to see the Explorers grow over time and come out of their shells,” said Officer Kenna
Dick, one of post’s advisors. “When our Captain Dave Norr first joined Exploring as a 14 year old, he was a
quiet guy. Now he’s been captain for two years and has developed into a true leader.”
Dick said members of Post 925 are looking forward to July when they will send 16 Explorers to compete at
the National Competition in Fort Collins, Colo.
Post 925 meets at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday at the South Metro Public Safety Training Facility, 7525 Braemar
Blvd., in Edina.
