FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Second Community Meeting to be Held for Edina’s ‘Name Your
Neighborhood’ Project
Edina, Minn., June 28, 2011 – The second in a series of three “Name Your Neighborhood” community
meetings will be held 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at the Edina Senior Center, adjacent to the Edina
Community Library in Grandview Square. At the meeting, residents will have the opportunity to give feedback
on a series of maps with proposed neighborhood names and boundaries for the city of Edina.
The maps that will be on display are the work of the resident-led Neighborhood Identification Steering
Committee. The maps reflect input gathered during the first community meeting held May 30. At that
meeting, 27 residents broke into small groups based on geographic areas to brainstorm ideas about potential
neighborhood names and boundaries.
The goal of the Name Your neighborhood project is to develop a city-wide neighborhood map with broad
community input for City Council approval by year end. The final community meeting is scheduled for Sept.
12. Once neighborhood boundaries and names are approved, residents will have the opportunity to
voluntarily form City-recognized neighborhood associations.
