FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Police Department to host neighborhood meeting to address
recent burglaries, thefts
Edina, Minn., July 24, 2012 – The Edina Police Department will host a neighborhood meeting 7 to 8 p.m.
Thursday, July 26, to talk with residents about recent burglaries and thefts from vehicles that have occurred in
northwest Edina this summer.
Detective Dave Carlson will lead the neighborhood meeting, which will be held at the Edina Senior Center,
5280 Grandview Square. Current information and residential security tips will be provided.
Since June 10, there have been 15 residential burglaries and 7 thefts from vehicles in northwest Edina. Most of
these incidents took place overnight and did not involve force to gain entry, meaning house and car doors
were left unlocked.
The Edina Police Department has increased patrol in the area and is urging residents to call 9-1-1 if they see
or hear anything suspicious.
To reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim, remember to:
Lock all ground floor windows and doors.
Keep overhead garage doors down, and both the exterior and interior service door to the home
locked.
Leave exterior lights on.
Place lights and radios on timers to create the appearance of activity within home.
Keep valuables out of sight and vehicles locked.
For more information on the neighborhood meeting, contact the Edina Police Department, 952-826-1610.
