FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Edina Public Art Committee Seeks New Members
Edina, Minn., Aug. 21, 2012 – If you are an artist or have an abiding interest in public art, the Edina Public
Art Committee has a use for your passion and expertise.
The Edina Public Art Committee exists to promote and enhance the aesthetic quality of life in Edina through
the enjoyment of art in the City’s many public spaces. It does this through:
• Serving in an advisory capacity to the City of Edina in all public art-related matters.
• Selecting artwork and overseeing installation of public art exhibitions around Edina.
• Building awareness and pride in community heritage and neighborhood identity.
• Promoting public education in the visual arts.
• Encouraging cooperation among public and private sectors, city government and the arts community.
• Making recommendations for creative fund-raising mechanisms for public art displays.
• Promoting economic development through the arts.
Public art in Edina expanded recently with new installations at 50th & France. Public art is also on display in
Grandview Square and along the Edina Promenade adjacent to Centennial Lakes Park.
Meetings of the Public Art Committee are held at 4 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at Edina City
Hall. Committee members receive no compensation for their services, and must be members of the Edina Art
Center.
If you think involvement on the Public Art Committee might be a good fit for you, contact Interim Art Center
Director Michael Frey at 952-903-5729 or mfrey@EdinaMN.gov for more information.
