FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Energy & Environment Commission To Host Solar Workshop
Edina, Minn., Oct. 30, 2012 – Looking for ways to save money on your electricity bills? Explore all the
options available with solar energy at the Edina Energy & Environment Commission’s free “Solar Works in
Edina” workshop 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15.
The workshop, held at Edina City Hall, 4801 W. 50th St., will give participants the chance to learn the basics
of solar energy, hear from residents and a business that have solar panels installed, find out about incentives
and rebates for installing solar panels and get resources to start a solar energy project.
“This event is really for anyone interested in solar,” said City of Edina Environmental Engineer Ross Bintner.
“Solar panels are getting cheaper year after year. With the incentives and rebates available, now is a great
time to start producing your own energy with solar.”
The City of Edina’s Energy & Environment Commission, Metro Clean Energy Resource Teams and Xcel
Energy are sponsoring the event. Register for the free workshop online at
www.solarworksedina.eventbrite.com; however, registration is not required.
“Solar requires technical expertise and you have to have the right site,” Bintner said. “Coming to this event
can help property owners learn about the technology and get a sense if their site would work well for solar.”
“Several Edina homeowners and businesses are already generating power with solar panels on their buildings,”
Bintner added. “This is an important step toward greener energy and lower utility bills.”
