FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Win Minnesota Twins Tickets in Step To It Challenge
Edina, Minn., April 6, 2023 – Registration is open for the free Step To It Challenge that turns your activities into fitness points and qualifies you to win prizes, including tickets
to a Minnesota Twins game.
Whether you walk or hopscotch, wash the car or vacuum, all sorts of activities qualify as points in the monthlong challenge that begins May 1.
Participants don’t need to start a new activity, as many daily tasks and games, from gardening to softball, count as steps. You track your own activity and simply submit the information.
If you have a Fitbit, you can link it to do the recording for you. Each activity is converted to steps, so a minute of washing the car is 87 steps while a minute of tennis is 212 steps.
Those steps can quickly add up. Last year, Edina’s top competitor in the Adult category for ages 19 to 64 recorded 962,824 steps combining exercise with daily tasks. But Edina’s best
Senior competitor, for ages 65 and older, topped that with an impressive 1,364,809 steps.
They helped Edina compete against more than 25 other Hennepin County communities. Brooklyn Park and Minnetonka Beach have topped the community charts the last two years, in part because
they simply have more people participating.
People of all ages and abilities are encouraged to sign up, as the goal is to help people be more active. Sign up in the Senior, Adult or Child (ages 18 and under) category. Make sure
to select Edina as the community to walk for when you sign up.
Sign up now at StepToIt.org; activity tracking begins May 1. Signups remain open during May.
Previous participants will need to create a new account as the old ones are deleted annually for privacy.
