Change Your Smoke Detector Battery With A Free 9-Volt
Edina, Minn., Oct. 29, 2012 – As part of the “Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery” campaign, the
Edina Fire Department received a donation of batteries from Energizer. Firefighters are giving the batteries
away to residents who will use them in their smoke and CO detectors.
“Daylight savings time is a great annual reminder for everyone to change batteries in smoke and CO
detectors. Working alarms are the best protection against fire and CO for your family,” Edina Fire Chief
Marty Scheerer said. “These batteries also provide an opportunity for families to talk about smoke and CO
detectors, what to do in case of an emergency and practice an escape plan.”
A limited supply of batteries are available for free at Edina Fire Station No. 1, 6250 Tracy Ave., and Edina City
Hall, 4801 W. 50th St., through Nov. 23, or until all the batteries are gone.
For additional information, visit www.EdinaMN.gov/Fire, or call the Edina Fire Department at 952-826-0330.
