WORK SESSION

CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Hovland called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Answering roll call were Members: Agnew, Jackson, Pierce, Risser and Mayor Hovland
Staff in attendance: Scott Neal, City Manager; Lisa Schaefer, Assistant City Manager; Perry Vetter, Parks and
Recreation Director; Laura Fulton, Recreation Supervisor; Tracy Petersen, Assistant Director for Recreation
and Facilities; Tiffany Bushland, Centennial Lakes Parks General Manager; Chris Rotty, Centennial Lakes Parks
Assistant General Manager; Bill Neuendorf, Economic Development Manager; Chad Millner, Engineering
Director; Katie Bisek, I.T. Specialist; and Sharon Allison, City Clerk.
ARTS AND CULTURE COMMISSION JOINT MEETING
The Arts and Culture commissioners updated the Council on their 2023 work plan. The Council asked
questions and provided feedback. Mayor Hovland updated the commissioners that Hennepin County proposed
a plan for a building that could include the new Southdale Library and an Art Center.
Commissioners in attendance: Chair Laura Westlund, Vice Chair Alana Zbaren, Brian Stemmler, Jen Faeth, and
Alyssa Fram, Peter O’Shea, and Reeya Anand.
CENTENNIAL LAKES PARK OPERATIONAL ASSESSMENT
Parks and Recreation Director Perry Vetter presented a summary of park budget, park visitors, amenity
offerings and operational benefits. Vetter spoke about park agreements that were established in the 1990’s to
help support park maintenance and how most have an end date in 2028. He spoke about the need for a long-
term solution for the loss of the maintenance fees, plus upcoming capital improvement needs.
The Council asked questions and provided feedback.
ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Hovland adjourned the meeting at 6:31 pm.
