"Edina's Park and Recreation programs are
important for a number of reasons, whether it is
for kids to learn new skills, people trying to stay
in shape or community members simply getting
the chance to connect with one another. I would
encourage everyone to participate."
Louise Segreto
PARK BOARD MEMBER
"Every year the Edina Baseball Association
hosts tournaments for players ages 10-18 at
Braemar fields. All our tournaments fill up
within days with teams from all over the metro
wanting to participate. These teams are drawn
to Edina due to the unmatched quality of our
facilities and the efforts of the people who work
so hard to maintain them."
Mike Theis
EDINA BASEBALL ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT
"Parks are incredibly desirable because they
give families a place for recreation within a
short distance from home. You should go to the
Edina Aquatic Center and see all the families
who use the pool. There are many wonderful
aspects of the Edina Parks system. The parks
make the city more livable and add great value
to our community."
Daniel Peterson
PARK BOARD MEMBER
"Edina Park and Recreation support leagues
that are both highly competitive and also those
that are more recreationally driven. It gives kids
a chance to build important leadership skills and
play the games they love."
Ed Luterbach
EDINA BOYS FLAG FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT
"We are fortunate in Edina to have a community
of people who care about their parks and are
willing to support the highly trained staff who
help to maintain and grow the parks system."

ice or take a spin on a Norwegian ice sled. Afterwards, guests can relax by
one of the Centrum building's three fireplaces while sipping a cup of hot
chocolate from the concession stand. For the convenience of park visitors,
Centennial Lakes rents figure and hockey skates for children and adults.
At the Hughes Pavilion, visitors can rent banquet space for weddings, busi-

The 2011-2012 season marks the Edina Basketball Association's (EBA) thirty-ninth year.

tive and fun environment remains constant.

The Edina Boys Flag Football Association is open to boys entering 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th

EDINA FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
Established in 1957, the Edina Football
Association (EFA) is a volunteer-driven
program that works to create a fun, fair
and safe environment where players can
learn the great game of football. The EFA
is open to Edina students in grades 2-8.
HORNET FLAG FOOTBALL:
2nd - 3rd grades
Each team will have a maximum of 14 players with
a balance of 2nd and 3rd graders. Player's school,
neighborhood and availability of volunteer coaches
will determine team placement. Hornet Flag
Football is played at the Braemar Baseball Fields
on Saturdays beginning late August through the
end of October.
HORNET TACKLE FOOTBALL:
4th, 5th and 6th grades
Fourth and fifth grade players are introduced to
tackle football via 9-man football played on an 80
yard field at Van Valkenburg Park. Sixth grade plays
11-man football on a 100 yard field. The EFA uses an
equi-draft to determine what players will be on a
particular team. This allows the EFA to make sure
that each team is as equally balanced as possible.
Season runs from mid August through the end of
October.
EFA TRAVELING FOOTBALL:
7th and 8th grades
Southwest Metro League play includes games ver-
sus teams from Chaska, Eden Prairie and Shakopee
along with Edina inter-league games. All Edina home
games will be played at Lewis Park. The EFA uses
an equi-draft to determine what players will be on
a particular team. This allows the EFA to make sure
that each team is as equally balanced as possible.
Season runs from mid August through the end of
October.
