FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Section of Minnehaha Creek to close for approximately six
weeks
Edina, Minn., July 7, 2011 – Canoeists and kayakers are being reminded that a section of
Minnehaha Creek in Edina will close next week.
On Monday, July 11, Minnehaha Creek will be closed between the Browndale dam and 58th Street
in order for contractors to work on the 56th Street bridge. The deck of the 56th Street bridge is
being replaced with poured-in-place concrete. The project is being completed in conjunction with
the Minnehaha Woods neighborhood street reconstruction project.
The bridge closure is expected to last about six weeks. The City has added temporary access to
Minnehaha Creek at 58th Street just west of France Avenue. There are signs up and a path mowed
indicating the access to the creek.
For more information on the bridge project, contact City of Edina Utility Engineer Jesse Struve at
952-903-5713 or jstruve@ci.edina.mn.us.
