FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Conboy promoted to Edina Police Department Sergeant
Edina, Minn., Oct. 5, 2011 – Edina Police Officer Dan Conboy has been promoted to the
position of Sergeant.
Conboy joined the Edina Police Department as a full-time patrol officer in 2004 and in 2009 became
School Resource Officer, serving as liaison between the Edina Police Department and Edina Public
School officials. Conboy spent his two years as School Resource Officer for South View Middle
School, Valley View Middle School and the six public elementary schools in the community. He was
responsible for criminal cases originating in the schools and was a resource to teachers and staff.
“I’ll miss the close working relationship I have with the schools,” said Conboy. “Being a School
Resource Officer was a great experience and I think a great stepping stone.”
As one of four sergeants in the Edina Police Department, Conboy will oversee his day-shift of six.
Conboy began his career in law enforcement in 1999 as a police officer in Tempe, Ariz. While on
the police force in Arizona, Conboy spent a year in Department’s DWI and aggressive driving unit.
He graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of Arizona.
“Dan has a unique blend of law enforcement experience as School Resource Officer and as a Field
Training Officer, which will help him prosper in his new position as sergeant,” said Police Chief Jeff
Long.
Conboy succeeds Phil Larsen, who retired from the Sergeant position in September.
