Government ‘Ax-cess’ channel to feature classic horror
movies on Halloween
Edina, Minn., Oct. 13, 2011 – To encourage more people to tune in to Edina Community
Channel 16, the Communications & Marketing Department is planning a special holiday movie line-
up for Oct. 31.
Patterned after an initiative of the government access channel staff in College Station, Texas, classic
Halloween films in the public domain will highlight 16 hours of Halloween special programming on
EDINA 16. Most movies will appear in chronological order beginning at 8 a.m., with the most recent
movies with the most realistic special effects airing later in the day. Between movies, vignettes will
air about the City’s regularly televised meetings and programs, as will relevant public service
announcements. The lineup includes:
Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (1920)
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920)
Nosferatu (1922)
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923)
Phantom of the Opera (1925)
The Lady Vanishes (1938)
Curse of Frankenstein (1957)
House on Haunted Hill (1958)
Plan 9 From Outer Space (1959)
Duel (1971)
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
“Residents of College Station, Texas, have come to look forward to the annual tradition of classic
horror movies being shown on Halloween. We are hoping to have the same success here and build
viewership of EDINA 16,” said Cable Coordinator Scott Denfeld.
