Edina officers receive internal recognition
Edina, Minn., Nov. 7, 2011 – Two Edina police officers received department accolades for their
exceptional service.
Officer Jason Behr received the Distinguished Service Award for his involvement in Edina/Eden
Prairie Law Enforcement Exploring Post 925, for which he served as a Post advisor for the past eight
years. Five of those years Behr spent as a lead advisor for the Post.
Prior to stepping down from his position with the Exploring program in 2010, Behr met with Post
925 every Tuesday evening and traveled with the group around the country for national and state
competitions.
“I am so proud of the Explorers and what they accomplish as members of Post,” said Behr. “It’s an
honor to receive this recognition from the Chief for my involvement in the program.”
Officer David Lindman, a detective on the Financial Crimes Task Force, received the Distinguished
Service Award for his five years spent on the Edina SWAT team.
The award is given annually to officers who have served on the Edina SWAT team for at least five
years.
“I feel privileged to have been able to work with the highly skilled Edina Police and Fire personnel
who make up the SWAT team,” said Lindman. “I’m honored to have received the award.”
“Officer Behr and Officer Lindman put in a significant amount of time outside of their everyday
career to better the Department and serve the community,” said Police Chief Jeff Long. “They are
both very deserving of this recognition.”
The Distinguished Service Award may be awarded by the Police Chief to a department member or
resident for an exceptional or outstanding act of service. Those awarded the accolade receive a
letter of recognition and commendation bar for their uniform.
There have been 45 recipients of the Distinguished Service Award since its inception in 1998.
