Ice skating at Centennial Lakes Park to open for season
Edina, Minn., Dec. 9, 2011 – The 10-acre lake at Centennial Lakes Park will open for the skating
season Friday, Dec. 16, weather permitting.
Ice is groomed daily by maintenance crews. In between skate sessions, skaters can warm up
near indoor and outdoor fireplaces while enjoying hot chocolate, hot dogs and other snacks
from the concessions stand.
There is no admission charge to skate at Centennial Lakes and skate rental is available for $5
per pair; ice sled rental is $7 per hour and trainers are available for $5 per hour. Photo
identification must be given as a deposit for all rentals.
Concessions stand and rental hours are 4 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 9:30
p.m. Saturday and noon to 9:30 p.m. Sunday. For skaters that have their own equipment, the
rink and warming house will open at noon on weekdays. Additional hours are also available
during all Edina school holidays.
The lake is scheduled to remain open to skaters until end of day Feb. 20, weather permitting.
