Outdoor ice rinks open for season
Edina, Minn., Dec. 9, 2011 – The City of Edina’s 12 outdoor ice skating rinks will open for the
season Tuesday, Dec. 20, weather permitting.
The 12 rinks are at Arden, Cornelia School, Countryside, Creek Valley, Highlands, Lewis,
Normandale, Pamela, Strachauer, Todd, Walnut Ridge and Weber parks. All locations feature
warming houses and general skating, and all but Countryside have hockey rinks.
Regular hours are 4 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 8
p.m. Sunday. Holiday hours are noon to 9:30 p.m. weekdays Dec. 21 through Jan. 2, except noon to
4 p.m. Dec. 24, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 31 and 1 to 8 p.m. Jan. 1. Rinks will be closed Dec. 25.
Rinks will be open noon to 9:30 p.m. Jan. 16, Jan. 30 and Feb. 20, when school is not in session.
Rinks are scheduled to remain open until end of day Feb. 20, weather permitting.
Centennial Lakes Park also features a 10-acre lake for skating which will open Friday, Dec. 16.
