FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Decision Resources to conduct 2011 Quality of Life Survey
Edina, Minn., May 2, 2011 – Minneapolis-based Decision Resources will contact residents this
month to conduct a 2011 Quality of Life Survey for the City of Edina. Approximately 400 residents
will be contacted via telephone and asked their opinions on topics ranging from City parks and
recreation to communications and public safety.
A survey like this has not been completed in Edina in over 10 years. City Manager Scott Neal said he
believes gathering information through surveys like this is important, and that he plans to complete
them more regularly. “The 2011 Quality of Life Survey will produce a treasure trove of data that we
will use to make our services better and to better align with what our residents and taxpayers are
asking from us,” Neal said.
The survey is being conducted by Decision Resources at a cost of $24,000, which will be paid for
out of the City’s Communications Fund. A report is expected to be complete early this summer.
Results will be compared with similar cities around the metro and statewide. Decision Resources,
which completed the City’s last survey in 1999, has also conducted surveys in many cities, counties
and school districts around the state, including Edina Public Schools.
