FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Edina’s First Reuse-Themed Formal Dance, Thrifterella’s Ball, Open for Registrations
Edina, Minn., May 19, 2023 – The Edina Public Health Division will host its first reuse-themed formal dance, Thrifterella’s Ball, 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 23.
This all ages, family-friendly event is free and open to everyone who lives in Edina and surrounding communities. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the dance in clothes they own,
borrow from a friend or thrift for. There will be a live DJ, refreshments, selfie spot and educational opportunities.
“In all parts of our lives, the concept of reuse is available to us,” said Organics Recycling Coordinator Twila Singh. “All aspects of this dance -- decorations, red carpet, linens,
twinkle lights, backdrop and refreshments -- are centered on waste reduction and reuse. It just goes to show that zero waste is a concept that can be incorporated into everyday life,
and fun can be had with what you already have in your closet.”
Registration is required, but one person can register an entire group. Register at EdinaMN.gov/Thrift.
For more information, contact Singh at TSingh@EdinaMN.gov or 952-826-1657.
