Learn About Edina Senior Center Offerings at July 27 Open House
Edina, Minn., July 12, 2023 – The Edina Senior Center will host an open house Thursday, July 27, for people to learn about all the classes, events, games, programs and trips offered
there.
The free drop-in open house will be 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Center, 5280 Grandview Square. Free parking is available in the Senior Center lot and by the Edina library that shares the
same building. At the event people can:
Take a tour and meet the Center's staff
Participate in exercise class demonstrations
Meet leaders of card game and social activities
Enter to win prizes, including gift cards to local businesses
Enjoy free beverages from Caribou Coffee and snacks
The event is ideal for those who haven’t visited the Senior Center before or adult children looking for education, social or wellness opportunities for parents. Current Senior Center
participants are encouraged to bring friends who haven’t visited before.
“We're really trying to reach people who haven't been here and don't know about us,” said Recreation Supervisor Nicole Gorman, who leads the Senior Center. “Of course, we have card games
and exercise programs, but we offer so much more.”
Some upcoming events include:
Citizens’ Police Academy just for seniors
Government and public policy education series, taught by State Rep. Heather Edelson, who represents Edina
Presidential Trivia Knowledge Bowl
Screening of the documentary, “The Unimaginable Journey of Peter Ertel,” a Nazi soldier who ended up spending a career working for a company owned by Orthodox Jews, with a question-and-answer
session with Director Joseph Cahn
Trips to the National Eagle Center, the Bakken Museum and a ride aboard the restored Osceola and St. Croix Valley Railway train
What’s In Your Attic, an evaluation event like “Antiques Roadshow”
The Edina Senior Center is open to anyone 55 and older. No membership is required, and many programs offered are free. People do not need to be Edina residents to participate.
