City of Edina, school district honored by MAGC
Edina, Minn., May 21, 2010 – The Minnesota Association of Government Communicators
(MAGC) on May 20 presented the City of Edina and Edina Public Schools with several awards for
work completed in 2009.
The City was presented four Awards of Merit and six first-place Awards of Excellence in the
Northern Lights Awards competition. The City’s website “avatar” received an Award of Excellence,
as did floor graphics used to advertise for Braemar Golf Course, “Beyond the Badge,” “In Edina,”
“Agenda: Edina” and a public service announcement about theft from autos. The City received
Awards of Merit for two About Town stories, a column on the importance of smoke detectors and
the 2009 advertising plan for Braemar Golf Course.
“Our department is honored to have been recognized by MAGC,” said Communications &
Marketing Director Jennifer Bennerotte. “Staff works diligently to produce creative communications
materials and programming that educates and informs the public. It is humbling to receive awards
from our peers in government communications for the work we do.”
Edina Public Schools Communications Manager Jolene Goldade accepted Awards of Merit for the
school district’s 2009-2010 Activities Calendar, Annual Report For Our Community and use of
photography in the “Welcome Folder.”
