Summer Concert Series begins at Centennial Lakes Park
Edina, Minn., June 3, 2010 – Centennial Lakes Park has come alive with the sound of music cascading over
the water every Sunday, Monday and Wednesday evening in June, July and August. Local community bands and
singers perform at 7 p.m. in the 1,000-seat lakeside Maetzold Amphitheater, 7499 France Ave.
In addition to the 7 p.m. concerts, noon concerts for children are held in the same location on Tuesdays and
Thursdays throughout the summer. On Tuesday nights, the park switches the music venue, and entertainment
such as pianist Jim Shannon and the Sidewalk Café Duo perform on the walkway near the lake.
Schedules of performances can be picked up along the walkways at Centennial Lakes Park, as well as at Edina
City Hall, 4801 W. 50th St. The schedule can also be found online at www.CentennialLakesPark.com.
Centennial Lakes, a 24-acre park and pond, offers the ultimate urban escape. The park features more than 1.5
miles of paved pathways meandering around a 10-acre lake and interspersed with beautifully landscaped
grounds, formal and informal seating areas, swinging benches and fountains.
During the summer months, visitors can also rent paddleboats, fish in the ponds for sunfish, bass and
bullheads, watch remote control sailboat races, explore the maze, or try their luck on the bent grass putting
course or croquet and lawn bowling courts. At the Park Centrum building, visitors can rent banquet space for
weddings, business meetings and social events.
