Edina Fire Department welcomes new
paramedic/firefighter
Edina, Minn., June 10, 2010 – Joshua Link recently began work as a paramedic/firefighter for the
Edina Fire Department’s B-Shift. His first day of work was Monday, June 7.
Link, formerly of Lexington, Ky., spent the last four years with Kentucky’s Central Campbell Fire
Department as a paramedic/firefighter. He received his firefighting certification from Butte College
Fire Academy in Butte County, Calif., and his paramedic certification from the Northern California
Training Institute in Sacramento, Calif.
“I’ve always been jealous of the guys who get to work in the same community they live in,” said Link,
who moved to Edina last year as a result of his wife’s employment. “The reason I’m in this job is
because it is so satisfying that I can make a difference in the community.”
“We’re excited to have Josh on board,” said Edina Fire Chief Marty Scheerer. “His past experience
and training make him a very good fit in our organization.”
In addition to his primary firefighting and emergency medical training, Link is trained in handling
hazardous materials and low angle-, swift water- and confined space-rescue. Prior to his work for
the Central Campbell Fire Department, Link worked a number of fire- and emergency medical-
related jobs in Kentucky and California.
