Lighthouse Night and Torchlight Concert Set for Aug. 13
Edina, Minn., July 26, 2023 – The annual Lighthouse Night featuring throwback entertainment from the early 1900s begins at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, at Centennial Lakes Park.
Visitors to the park, 7499 France Ave. S., will be entertained by a sleight-of-hand magician, Italian organ grinder, mechanical man and a Wurlitzer band organ. They’ll be able to see
Model T Fords and penny-farthings – late 19th-century bicycles with a giant front wheel. The event includes some throwback prices as well: 25-cent ice cream cones and 5-cent balloons.
New this year is a barbershop quartet to entertain people.
Throughout the evening, members of the Edina Model Yacht Club will run their remote-controlled boats on the park’s waters.
Fife & Drums perform at 7:45 p.m., leading up to the Torchlight Concert starting at 8:30 p.m. The First John Philip Sousa Memorial Band, which coordinates Lighthouse Night, performs
the concert. The night concludes with a fireworks finale to accompany “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
Admission to Lighthouse Night and the Torchlight Concert are free, and all ages are welcome. Plenty of free parking is available.
