Edina Liquor patrons donate 360 pounds of food to VEAP
Edina, Minn., Nov. 4, 2010 –Edina Liquor collected 360 pounds of food during the third-annual
Municipal Liquor Food Drive held in October.
Through donations from its patrons, Edina Liquor’s Grandview store on Vernon Avenue collected
120 pounds, the Southdale store collected 140 pounds and the 50th & France store collected 100
pounds of nonperishable food items. Food collected by Edina Liquor was donated to Volunteers
Enlisted to Assist People (VEAP), a local non-profit agency serving low-income, elderly and disabled
persons in Bloomington, Edina, Richfield and south Minneapolis.
For the third consecutive year, municipal liquor stores across the state worked with the Minnesota
Municipal Beverage Association (MMBA) and MillerCoors Brewing to collect non-perishable food
items for local food shelves. Last year, over 20 tons of food was collected at municipal liquor stores
statewide. The total amount of food collected this year is still being counted.
“While the food donations we received were down from last year, we are still proud to help those
in our community who are less fortunate,” said Edina Liquor Operations Director Steve Grausam.
Edina Liquor collected 480 pounds of food at its three locations last year and 905 pounds of food in
2008.
