The Art Center will have instructors there and will show how to make cards and have face painting. C. Finance/Fundraiser There has not been a Celebrate the Arts meeting. - No report. The Art Center is $12,000 to $13,000 in the red compared with last year. Last meeting it was discussed that the Art Center now pays sales tax. This was clarified as a State mandated tax. It was not mandated by the City. D. Other A thank-you to Dodie Paul for working on the Pottery Manual. Ms. Hedges suggested setting a date for the Holiday Party. There was discussion whether to hold it in December or January. It was set for Friday, December 11th, 6:30 p.m, at the Art Center. V. GALLERY REPORT A. Juried Show There were only 60 pieces out of 240 accepted. Ms. Hedges informed the judges that she thought they were being too selective. The board discussed telling the judges to accept a percentage of pieces based on the total entered, instead of being as selective. This is a community Art Center therefore, not as competitive. Ms. Hedges will let the judges know next year. The judges did like the 10 awards of merit and 10 awards of Excellence, instead of the first, second, third place. B. Edinborough The gallery space at Edinborough will be rented to the artists. The artists will do their own publicity and marketing. The drt center will not receive commissions from sales but will receive a portion of the rentals. The new policy will start February, 1993. The centrum at Centennial Lakes will have an ongoing instructor show. If someone has an opening they will be charged a rental fee. VI. OTHER Peter R. Spokes stated that the letter to service organizations was on hold due to possible road expansion at 66th street. As a result, the donated sign board may be affected. Ms. Hedges stated that the letter should be sent, since the road construction won't start until next year. Mr. Spokes stated he would send them out. Meeting adjourned 8:00 a.m.
