JURIED SHOW - RUTH VALGEMAE Ruth reported that plans were in place for the Opening Reception Thursday, September 2nd at 5 pm. It was suggested that we ask Ron and Sandy Clark to be Honorary Co-chairs. They are also to have the Peer Award named after them. The Planning Committee also recommends a special reception be scheduled prior to the start of the regular reception to host and honor donors. A discussion ensued as to whether the invitations to the donors' reception should be limited to donations of some sizeable amounts. The sense of the board members was that all donors should be included in the reception. Dee Dege asked whether artists would be present at the donors' reception so the donors could meet them. Some artists will be invited to meet the donors. She also asked whether invitations to the regular reception would be sent to Art Teachers in the Edina School System. That idea will be implemented. Mike Kelly clarified that the Donors' Reception will be hosted by the Board members from 4 to 5 pm. MEDIA STUDIOS - PHIL JOHNSON Phil reported that the first phase of the consolidation of Media Studios space had been completed. Eight classroom computers were relocated to the Edina Senior Center last week. Children's camp classes will be conducted there beginning the week of July 5th and continuing through the summer. Do-It-Yourself business will continue as usual in re-organized space in the three smaller rooms within the Media. Studios. We are experiencing increasing demand for DVD-based recording and preservation of home movies, photos and slides. Additional equipment has been provided to meet this anticipated demand. Michael Frey is teaching a portrait class on Monday evenings to test the room setup. Several artists have expressed interest in renting studio space, as well.
