Five species of vegetation were sampled during the survey: Small pondweed spp (immature growth, couldn’t fully identify) Northern watermilfoil Chara spp Elodea canadensis Small duckweed (observed) The point intercept survey consisted of 100 points, however, 2 sites were on shore, so 98 point was used for data analysis. At each site depth was recorded and vegetation was sampled with a double-sided rake. For every species sampled, an abundance rating was assigned based on how much was sampled on the rake. The ratings are as follows: Plant species absent Plant species covers <25% of the rake Plant species covers 25-75% of the rake Plant species covers >75% of the rake This rating scale was taken out of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Guidance for Delineating Aquatic Plants for Management. Small pondweed spp was found at 65 sites (frequency of occurrence: 66%) with an average rake abundance of 1.4 at sites where it was collected (See figure 1). Northern watermilfoil was found at 61 sites (frequency of occurrence: 62%) with an average rake abundance of 1.3 at the sites where it was collected (See figure 2). Chara spp was found at 6 sites (frequency of occurrence: 6%) with an average rake abundance of 1 at the sites where it was collected (See figure 3). Elodea canadensis was found at 9 sites (frequency of occurrence: 9%) with an average rake abundance of 1 at the sites where it was collected (See figure 4). / Figure 1: Edina Lake small pondweed spp distribution and abundance / Figure 2: Edina Lake northern watermilfoil distribution and abundance / Figure 3: Edina Lake Chara spp distribution and abundance / Figure 4: Edina Lake Elodea canadensis distribution and abundance
