HIGHER BLENDS INFRASTRUCTURE INCENTIVE PROGRAM
CASH MATCH CERTIFICATION
WHEREAS, in 2021, the City of Edina adopted a Climate Action Plan, committing to reduce greenhouse gas
emissions 45 percent by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050; and
WHEREAS, the Climate Action Plan includes a strategy to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from the City's
operations fleet, including its heavy-duty vehicles; and
WHEREAS, 100 percent biodiesel fuel can reduce vehicle emissions and pollutants by up to 90 percent and is one
of the available options to reduce emissions from heavy-duty vehicles; and
WHEREAS, this project would allow the City of Edina to lead by example to become one of the first cities in
Minnesota to pilot conversion of its heavy-duty diesel vehicles to I00 percent biodiesel.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Edina City Council 1- reby authorizes the City to apply to
the US Department of Agriculture's Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program that the City's Conservation and
Sustainability Fund will provide the necessary $163,000 cash match.
