HomeMy WebLinkAboutEdina Art Grant Program AwardeesContact: Lauren Siebenaler, Senior Communications Coordinator Phone 952-833-9537 • LSiebenaler@EdinaMN.gov • EdinaMN.gov  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  Seven Projects Awarded Edina Art Grants  Edina, Minn., May 1, 2024 – The Edina Arts & Culture Commission recently awarded seven projects Edina Art Grants. “The Commission was thrilled with the diverse range of artistic mediums in projects selected,” said Arts & Culture Commissioner Jennifer Faeth. “We are excited to have representation of an array of diverse perspectives ranging from students, to emerging artists, to cultural music and experiences for the community to enjoy.” The application process opened in late January and closed in March. Each project was required to support and facilitate arts and culture activities and events in the community. The projects that received awards are: $1,000 for the Edina Art Fair to launch an Emerging Artists Program $500 for the 50th & France Summer Concert Series for local student performances $500 for Donte Mearon to host an interactive demonstration of printmaking at the Edina Art Fair Kids Zone and create a community cloth $500 for Chris Kalogerson to commission a musical and cultural Fiesta Latina performance at the Edina Public Library $1,000 for recording “Coacello,” a multigenerational, multigenre, multicultural celebration of music at Centennial Lakes Park $1,000 for the Edina Asian American Alliance for visual, performing and literary arts at the Asian American Pacific Islander event at Rosland Park $500 for Lin (Lindsey) Wu for choreographed art of a tea ceremony (Tea Culture Art) at the Edina Community Center, Southdale Center, Edina Senior Center and/or art festivals The project timelines vary, but most will take place this summer.
