Online Guide Launches To Help People Understand CIP Process
Edina, Minn., July 10, 2024 – A new online guide will help residents and business owners better understand how the City of Edina chooses and times major maintenance, projects and purchases.
The Capital Improvement Projects Guide explains what falls under capital improvements and how this six-year plan is created, approved and funded.
The City creates a new Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) every two years. It outlines the planned spending for maintenance or replacement of more than $357 million in capital assets. This
includes buildings, equipment, roads, vehicles and utility infrastructure.
For example, the 2023-2028 CIP includes:
Construction of the new Fire Station 2
Playground replacements at several parks
Replacement of aging Police equipment and several vehicles
Street reconstruction projects
“This guide has been designed to build awareness and understanding of the CIP process,” Finance Director Pa Thao said. “We want Edina residents to know how we take care of City assets
and plan ahead for the preservation and expansion of infrastructure, facilities and equipment to achieve our long-term vision.”
Visit EdinaMN.gov/CIP to learn more, view the guide or ask questions about it.
