Thursday, February 8, 2024 7:00 PM I.Call To Order - Chair Martinez called the meeting to order at 7:06 pm. II.Roll Call Answering roll call were Chair Martinez, Vice Chair Lukens, Commissioners Haugen, Weber, and Schima, Absent: Commissioner Lanzas, Tessman and Dakane, Student Commissioners Pugh and Langsweirdt III.Approval Of Meeting Agenda Motion by Cory Lukens to Motion. Seconded by John Haugen. Motion Carried. IV.Approval Of Meeting Minutes A.Minutes: Energy and Environment Commission January 11, 2024 Motion by Stephen Schima to Motion. Seconded by Hilda Martinez Salgado. Motion Carried. V.Community Comment - No community comments were received. During "Community Comment," the Board/Commission will invite residents to share relevant issues or concerns. Individuals must limit their comments to three minutes. The Chair may limit the number of speakers on the same issue in the interest of time and topic. Generally speaking, items that are elsewhere on tonight's agenda may not be addressed during Community Comment. Individuals should not expect the Chair or Board/Commission Members to respond to their comments tonight. Instead, the Board/Commission might refer the matter to staff for consideration at a future meeting. VI.Reports/Recommendations A.HRRC CAP HS:4-3 Report Presentation Mamie Segall and Daisy Khalifa presented HRRC Report request from the Climate Action Plan on "evaluate community organizations, networks, and connections serving those who require special attention, such as people who are elderly, homebound, isolated, living with disabilities, or those likely to be in need of financial assistance, during or after extreme weather events". B.Review Staff Report on Commercial Tree Protection Ordinance Staff agreed with EEC's report on a commercial tree ordinance. Director Millner and Commissioner Haugen will be part of next steps when determined in 2024. C.Approve Time of Sale Energy Disclosure Program Report Motion by Hilda Martinez Salgado to Motion to approve report. Seconded by LeeAnn Weber. Motion Carried. VII.Chair And Member Comments Chair Martinez requested Chair and Vice-Chair elections occur at the March meeting. VIII.Staff Comments A.Discuss Green Business Recognition Program / Staff Tasks Staff requested clarification on tasks. EEC would like to see the same and more communications on the program pushed out by the City to solicit applications. Applications ran Earth Day to mid-June so applications could be reviewed prior to July 4 parade. B.Tree Recognition Campaign Staff suggested reviewing the Century Homes Program for potential ideas on the campaign. C.Sustainability Manager Hire Update Marisa Bayer will be the new Sustainability Manager starting February 26. IX.Adjournment Meeting adjourned at 8:20pm.
