The 6.7 miles of mountain biking trails on the west and east sides of Braemar Park are already drawing riders. Separate hiking/walking trails totaling 2.2 miles offer inclines and walks among the trees. The event will include: Ribbon cutting Free water bottles Free trail maps Organizations including Bloomington Off-Road Cycling Alliance (BORCA) and Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists (MORC) Vendors that specialize in mountain bike products, including Wolf Tooth Components and Yardi Bring your bike and helmet or hiking/walking shoes to try out the trails. Meet at the trail access by Braemar Golf Dome, 7420 Braemar Blvd. The trails, which skirt the edges of Braemar Golf Course, were created out of the natural landscape after invasive species including buckthorn were removed. Trees and other natural buffers separate the riders and walkers from the golfers. More trails on the south side of Braemar Park will open in spring 2025 and connect the east and west trails. Planning and construction take longer on that segment as those trails wind through wetlands. The trails, built by Afton-based Pathfinder Trail Building, are paid for from the half-cent sales and use tax Edina voters approved in November 2022. They are part of the $8.1 million in improvements underway at Braemar Park.
