City of Edina Policy
Proclamations Policy
The purpose of the City of Edina’s Proclamations Policy is to give staff direction for both City Council
and Mayoral Proclamations.
City Council Proclamations:
• The City is a sponsor of the event.
• The organization has an official relationship with the City.
• Must relate to a stated policy of the City as established in documents.
• The organization is a long-time recipient of proclamation.
• Recognition of City departments, divisions and staff.
Mayoral Proclamations outside of Council Meetings:
• Organizations with official relationships with the City.
• Organizations hosting a convention in Edina.
• Nonprofit organizations if requested by an Edina resident.
• City department participating in event.
• Company or organization that has been in business for at least 50 years.
• Edina residents or individuals/groups with significant connection to Edina celebrating
significant achievements (100th birthdays for example).
Not allowed:
• Promotes or fosters discrimination.
• Supports or opposes political campaigns or ballot measures.
• Supports solicitations of commerce, political, charitable or religious viewpoints or causes.
• No official interest with the City.
• Outside of the purview of city governance.
