HomeMy WebLinkAboutPolice Explorers Recruitment 2024Contact: Giovanna Contreras, Communications Intern Phone 952-826-0347 • commintern@EdinaMN.gov • EdinaMN.gov  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  Police Explorers Post No. 925 Recruits Participants  Edina, Minn., Sept. 4, 2024 – Edina/Eden Prairie Police Explorers Post No. 925 will hold its first informational meeting for potential new participants at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the South Metro Public Safety Training Facility, 7525 Braemar Blvd. “Police Explorers is a great program for any young adult interested in a career in law enforcement. It offers exposure to training opportunities and volunteer opportunities that not many other programs have,” said Edina Police Officer Nick Navejas, advisor to the program. “It is also a great opportunity for young adults to build confidence, make lasting friendships and have fun while giving back to their community.” Explorers Post No. 925 meets every Tuesday night and participates in various conferences, including the National Explorer Conference every other year. In weekly meetings, participants learn more about all aspects of law enforcement through hands-on experiences. Topics include burglary response, first aid, search and arrest, white-collar crime, hostage negotiations, interview and interrogation and more. Edina/Eden Prairie Post No. 925 is open to young adults ages 14 through 20 with an interest in learning more about a career in law enforcement. The youngest members must have completed eighth grade before joining.
