Safety Camp seeks participants
Edina, Minn., July 16, 2004 – Edina Safety Camp will give kids the skills to stay safe when the unexpected
happens.
The Edina Police, Fire and Park and Recreation departments invite students entering the fourth grade to attend
Safety Camp 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 3. This is the first year the camp will be held at the South Metro Public Safety
Training Facility, 7525 Braemar Blvd., where kids will be able to see firsthand how Edina’s police officers and
firefighters polish their skills.
The camp still has some openings. Students can register in the Park and Recreation office at Edina City Hall, 4801
W. 50 St., or online at www.cityofedina.com. The registration fee is $20, and scholarships are available.
The students attending Safety Camp will hear speakers from various public safety departments, including the Edina

experience in a car accident changed his life, and KSTP-TV meteorologist Karl Spring will speak about weather
safety. Students will participate in contests with an awards ceremony at the end of the day, and Metropolitan Life
