Call to Order Chair Westlund called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. II. Roll Call Answering roll call were Commissioners Byrd, Curtin, Faeth, Fram, Steinberg, Scully, Zbaren, and Chair Westlund. Staff Present: Recreation Supervisor Laura Fulton III. Approval of Meeting Agenda Motion made by Steinberg to approve the October 24, 2024, meeting agenda as submitted, seconded by Curtin. Motion carried. IV. Approval of Meeting Minutes Motion made by Fram to approve the September 19, 2024, meeting minutes as submitted, seconded by Scully. Motion carried. V. Reports/Recommendations A. 2024 Workplan Updates ● Initiative 1.1.1: Art Center i. Fulton reported that the Southdale library will be holding a community information session on December 7th. She noted that more information will come soon. ● Initiative 1.1.2: Edina Art Grant Program i. Faeth reported that there will be a tea ceremony in November. She noted that she will follow up for a report. ii. Curtin discussed starting to think about next year’s program. ● Initiative 1.1.3: Review Public Art Opportunities for New City Facilities and Locations Draft Minutes☐ Approved Minutes☒ Approved Date: 11/21/2024 i. Faeth reported that there was a meeting with City staff regarding the fire station art. She noted that they will be focusing on creating a mural on the metal paneled wall in front of the parking lot. She shared the completion date is targeted at the fall of 2025. ii. Vetter reported that they have completed 30% of the design of the Fred Richards Park plan. He noted they would like to add public art in the park. ● Initiative 1.1.4: Commission Participation in Community Events i. Nothing to report VI. Chair and Member Comments ● Chair Westlund reported that on October 3rd, she and all other Commission Chairs presented their 2025 Workplans to City Council. She noted that City Council was very supportive in their 2025 Workplan. ● Vetter reported that the Parks and Rec Commission is looking into diving into new things in 2025 if their initiative is approved. He believes they will be sending the Commission an email to see if there is interest in some type of collaboration. ● Westlund requested that the Director of the Community Foundation make a report to the Arts and Culture Commission next year. VII. Staff Comments ● Liaison Fulton reported that the Art Lab will be taking place on November 2. She noted that they have a new artist developing the projects. There will also be an upcycling party taking place November 16. ● Liaison Fulton reviewed the meeting dates for the remainder of the year. VIII. Adjournment Meeting adjourned at 4:57 p.m.
