Call to Order Chair Westlund called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. II. Roll Call Answering roll call were Commissioners Byrd, Curtin, Faeth, Fram, Stemmler, Chair Westlund, Vice Chair Zbaren, and Student Commissioner Schenk. Staff Present: Recreation Supervisor Laura Fulton III. Approval of Meeting Agenda Motion made by Faeth to approve the November 21, 2024, meeting agenda as submitted, seconded by Curtin. Motion carried. IV. Approval of Meeting Minutes Motion made by Fram to approve the October 24, 2024, meeting minutes as submitted, seconded by Zbaren. Motion carried. V. Special Recognitions and Presentations None. VI. Community Comment None. VII. Reports/Recommendations A. Fred Richards Park Update ● Vetter introduced Park Planner Finberg and indicated that this was informational tonight and no action is needed. ● The presentation is to support Initiative 1.1.3, Review Public Art Opportunities. ● Finberg gave the presentation regarding the updates at the park. Draft Minutes☐ Approved Minutes☒ Approved Date: 12/19/2024 ● Finberg provided details for the landscaping and design of the park. ● Finberg described the food forest that they will have in the park. She noted that this is something new for the City to have available in a park. ● The Commission discussed the art opportunities in the park. ● More detail will be provided to the commission as the project further develops. B. 2024 Arts and Culture Commission Workplan Updates ● Initiative 1.1.1 Art Center i. Vetter indicated that Hennepin County is hosting an information session on Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. at the Southdale Library. They anticipate city staff will be there to answer questions related to the Art Center portion. ii. A more detailed presentation will be provided to the ACC at the Dec regular meeting and hopefully a joint session with the ACC can be conducted with the City Council in January. ● Initiative 1.1.2 Edina Art Grant Program i. Commissioner Fram updated the commission that the Tea Ceremony at the Senior Center was conducted. She noted that this was the last grant recipient program. ● Initiative 1.1.3 Review Public Art Opportunities for New City Facilities and Locations i. Commissioner Stemmler indicated that the Fire Station public art meeting was very inclusive, and the Grandview Bridge is now open, which has public art installed on it. ● Initiative 1.1.4 Commission Participation in Community Events. i. Nothing to report. VIII. Chair and Member Comments ● Chair Westland indicated she had a discussion with Megan Feeney regarding a proposal that the Edina Theater be a venue for some films of the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival in Spring 2025. They are working with the 50th and France Business District and the Mann Theatre owners. ● Commissioner Faeth highlighted that fellow Commissioner Byrd is conducting a curated conversation program in the upcoming art programs and she would love to come. IX. Staff Comments ● Vetter highlighted the upcoming schedule for 2024 and 2025 ● Vetter also noted the upcoming workshop and class schedule Draft Minutes☐ Approved Minutes☒ Approved Date: 12/19/2024 X.
