The plan is proposed to be an amendment to Edina’s Comprehensive Plan. If adopted, it would guide future development and infrastructure decisions in the area near Lincoln Drive and Londonderry Road, just east of U.S. Highway 169. The planning process began in February 2024 and included engaging residents, businesses and local organizations. The working group of residents and Planning Commissioners also held three public workshops to help formulate the draft. Visit bit.ly/lincolnsap to read the draft plan and learn more about this project. The Lincoln and Londonderry area is in a section of the city with limited sewer capacity. To address this, the plan’s recommendations are divided into two sections: actions to take within current capacity and actions that would require sewer system upgrades. Highlights of recommendations within current capacity: “Rightsize” development and establish design standards. Improve outdoor spaces with murals or other creative installation along the industrial facades and add outdoor gathering spaces. Create small rest stops along the Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail. Establish green stormwater infrastructure, naturalize green spaces and increase tree canopy. Improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety and connections to the area. Highlights of recommendations requiring increased sewer capacity: Rezone for commercial, retail, light industrial and residential development. Redesign circulation to establish smaller blocks and direct vehicle traffic closer to the highway. Redesign Lincoln Drive as a greenway.
