Edina Fire Seeking Input on Public Art at New Fire Station 2
Edina, Minn., May 7, 2025 – The Edina Fire Department is seeking input on five outdoor public art concepts that are being considered for the new Fire Station 2 under construction at
4401 W. 76th St.
“This building will be more than just a Fire Station,” said Edina Fire Operations Chief Pete Fisher. “It will house community meeting spaces and it will also house the City’s Public
Health Division. We want this building to be a landmark and we want the public art to reflect the community we serve.”
The sculpture concepts vary and include different materials and styles, such as stained glass, steel, patina steel and perforated aluminum. Descriptions and illustrations of the concepts
can be found at BetterTogetherEdina.org/fire-station-2. The deadline to provide feedback on the concepts is 8 a.m., Tuesday, May 27.
After the public input process has concluded, one concept will be chosen by staff and reviewed by the Arts & Culture Commission and then recommended to the City Council. Once approved
by the City Council, an artist will create the sculpture and prepare it for installation this fall. The public art will be installed in the courtyard of the new Fire Station 2 and will
be highly visible to any visitors and staff.
“Public art reflects who we are as a community. It sparks connection, celebrates our shared spaces and brings meaning to the everyday places we pass by. Your voice helps shape a more
vibrant, inclusive Edina,” said Special Projects & Engagement Manager MJ Lamon.
