Grab a spot along the park’s central pond to see model boats of all sizes, which include yachts, battle ships, paddleboats, sailboats, tugboats and even tiny speedboats. Many of the boats feature fine details, like captains at the wheel or a parrot perched on the crow’s nest. They range from historically accurate scale ships to silly creations. Children’s favorites include a boat full of Minions and Mr. Potato Head pirates aboard the “Gravy Boat.” The boats will be on display in the Hughes Pavilion from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and on the water starting at 11 a.m. Other boats not in the parade will remain on display inside the pavilion during the event. Members of the Edina Model Yacht Club, which puts on the free event, will be on hand to answer questions about the model boats and the hobby. For more about the event, call 952-833-9580 or visit the Edina Model Yacht Club’s website, emyc.org. Learn more about Centennial Lakes Park at CentennialLakesPark.com. -30-
