The Lincoln and Londonderry Small Area Plan is now an amendment to the 2018 Comprehensive Plan that included specialized plans for other areas including 50th & France and the Greater Southdale Area. Learn more and see the entire plan at EdinaMN.gov/compplan. The Lincoln and Londonderry plan process began in February 2024 and included engaging residents, businesses and local organizations. The working group of residents and Planning Commissioners also held three public workshops to help formulate the draft. After a public comment period, the final version was approved by City Council and then sent to the Metropolitan Council, which gave its required approval in late July. Community Development Coordinator Addison Lewis, the City staff member who led the effort, lauded the efforts of the working group members and people who provided feedback during the workshops or on the draft plan. “Thank you to everyone who contributed to this,” Lewis said. “This plan provides clarity and sets the expectations for development so residents, business owners and developers understand what’s desired for this unique area of Edina.” The Lincoln and Londonderry area is in a section of the city with limited sewer capacity. To address this, the plan’s recommendations are divided into two sections: actions to take within current capacity and actions that would require sewer system upgrades. The plan includes recommendations to establish design standards, increase pedestrian and bicycle safety, beautify the industrial spaces and create more natural green spaces.
