Four New Sculptures Installed at Centennial Lakes Park
Edina, Minn., Aug. 29, 2025 – Four outdoor sculptures were installed along the Edina Promenade at Centennial Lakes Park, 7499 France Ave. S., throughout August and are now open to the
public. The sculptures are being loaned by the artists through the Art on Loan Program.
Artist Isaac Kidder created “Animal Realized,” an abstraction sculpture of animal forms made of welded steel. “The sculpture looks out toward the community as if to say ‘hello,’” said
Kidder. “Its bright red color pairs beautifully with the green grass and leaves of spring and summer, compliments the yellow and amber leaves during fall, and is visually striking against
the white snow of winter.”
Artist Judd Nelson created “3 Amigos.” The sculpture features three white Egret birds made of forged and welded steel. This sculpture is life size and shows the family of birds -- a
mother and its’ two young birds -- together.
Artist Jon Kamrath created “Full Sail II,” an abstract sailboat sculpture made of steel and aluminum. Kamrath was inspired to create this sculpture when his father-in-law asked to store
his tiny sailboat at the lake near his studio one summer. He found the constant sound of the rope dinging against the aluminum mast to be relaxing. “I never grew tired of the repetitive
sound and would often sit outside just to listen to it. This sculpture tries to reference that peaceful feeling,” Kamrath said.
Artist Craig Snyder created “Walking Tall,” described by the artist as iconic and timeless. “We stretch toward the sky, yearning for the caress of wind on our faces and the tender green
sustenance that fuels our existence,” Snyder said.
Art on Loan Program applications for outdoor sculptures were accepted this spring. The Edina Arts & Culture Commission chose these four works of art to be placed at Centennial Lakes
Park through July 2027.
The sculptures are visible to pedestrians, bikers and all who use the Edina Promenade. The Promenade is a 1.5-mile paved pedestrian and bike pathway system in the Centennial Lakes area,
a mixed-use neighborhood consisting of retail, residential and recreational amenities southeast of 70th Street and France Avenue. Centennial Lakes Park is visited by 400,000 people
a year.
